She then went on to design rooftop and terrace gardens, as well as greenroofs in Manhattan and Brooklyn for the design and install firm, Holly, Wood and Vine. After a move to the North Carolina mountains Katie began her own design company, Green, and worked at B.B. Barnes Nursery in Asheville, NC. She was raised by gardener parents in Massachusetts where she learned a deep respect for nature and the earth.
